Back in OZ

G'day!

We arrived on Tues morn. It was my birthday (25!). We went to visit both of my grandparents which was so great.

This was me having a birthday breakfast at my Grandpas.

This was the fruit basket that Dave's mum brought me.

Ko Chang

Heya lovelies!

We are currently in Chanthaburi catching up with Harley and Dan Cheeseman.

Here's some more pics from Ko Chang...

Kelly ('Allez') climbing up the biggest hill on Ko Chang.

Spirit Houses (every Thai house has a mini house representing it which is where the spirits live instead of in the actual house).

Boats. The one on the right was so funky, I'd love to live on something like that.

Our current accomodation looks something like this..

Hat Klong Prao

We're planning on staying here for a week at least. It's only about 5 meters away from a lovely, relaxing, quiet beach, (right behind the above photo)

I'm enjoying the local produce, including papaya (pictured) rambutan, banana, mangosteen, pineapple, durian..

Kelly is fasting this week, and I will be supervising, making sure she gets enough fluids, and helping her through the difficult times.

New wheels!

Sawat dee kha!

Yep, you guessed it, I've got some new wheels. We'd made friends with the owner of a bike shop near our guesthouse and they cut us an unrefusable deal. I ended up trading in the Apollo and for $550AU became the proud owner of this 2006 'Trek 1000', plus a water bottle, light, tube, and helmet accessory.

We have been visiting the shop everyday and have had impromptu languge lessons and been showered with fruit. The owner, Aunty Ju, even gave us Thai names - I am 'Ying' and Dave is 'Chaai'.

I just had to take a photo of this pooch, he looks like the one off of the muppets - so cute!

World Durian Festival

The $3 fruit basket. This was one of the entries in the fruit junging contest and they were auctioned off after. Dave bid in thai to get this one for 90 Baht.

 Prize winning durians

Kelly with Dave's fruit platter (I have a sarong on incase you are wondering!)

Mr Lizard. Also a resident in our room and happened to sleep with us last night (inside our mozi net!). He also likes hiding in our laundry and living in our bathroom. He is actually quite big, maybe 25cms long.

Winner of the heaviest durian contest.

Our guesthouse room overhangs the Chanthaburi river. Thai guys doing some fishing row their little boats along under our room. Our roof is tin and it rains so hard each night that it sounds like a jet taking off. It seems to come from every angle at once and I think if you steped outside into that kind of rain you would probably drown!

We will try and get a photo of Miss World Durian to post. We watched the finalists give their speaches last night (in Thai) and were pretty sure that one proclaimed 'Durians for all!' because she got a big applause. We were also lucky enough to catch a performace by a professional Thai chearleading squad. They were brilliant and did somany fantastic tricks including the guys chucking the girls up into the air for somersaults and chucking them up so that the girls feet land on the guys hands held above their head!

In fruity fantasticness!
